Advantech U.S., Inc. has decades of experience in the additive manufacture of complex electronic devices and circuits. Advantech’s historic focus were active matrix display backplanes for OLED and ePaper flat planel displays.
The active matrix display backplane, conceived by Advantech’s founder Dr. Peter Brody, is a 2-dimensional array of switches that turn on the individual pixels in flat panel displays. Each pixel or sub-pixel is addressed by its row and column position and modulated using a MOSFET / capacitor circuit.
Advantech U.S., Inc. is the pioneer of the active matrix display backplane technology and has optimized additive manufacturing technology for the production of these complex circuits.
The active components used in display backplanes are a basic building block for future additively manufactured logic, memory and controller circuits that are currently under development at Advantech U.S., Inc.
